Gonzalez helps Gators get good grades in Aztec

 Saturday (March 5) was a productive day for senior Cierra Gonzalez and the Xavier Prep track and field team.

Gonzalez won the high jump and long jump events and finished second in the 200-meter dash, and the Gators’ 4x800-meter relay team won that event to highlight the effort in the annual Aztec Invite at Tempe Corona del Sol.

There were other second-place finishes, by sophomore Bella Gomez in the 400-meter dash and junior Reese Brown in the 1,600-meter run, along with senior Avery Allen in the pole vault, senior Elena Soderstrom in the discus and senior Ellie Higgins in the javelin.

The Gators’ next will compete on March 12 in the Rattler Booster at Phoenix North Canyon. Start time is 9 a.m.
