The Arizona Republic newspaper has announced its honor teams/athletes for the 2021-22 winter sports season, and Xavier Prep received its share of noteworthy attention.
After Xavier
Prep won its second straight 6A Conference state championship 3-2 (penalty
kicks) over Gilbert Perry, two Xavier players were named Honorable Mention.
They were sophomore defender Talia Coury and junior forward/midfielder Bella
Leonard.
Xavier’s
basketball team reached the 6A semifinals before falling to Perry, but the
Gators had two standouts who were recognized by The Republic.
They were
sophomore guard-forward Sarah Miller, who was named to the All-Arizona Team and
is a candidate for Player of the Year, and sophomore point guard Dominique
Nesland, who was an Honorable Mention selection.
Congratulations
to these four fine athletes for their excellent seasons!
