Xavier Prep’s 4x800-meter relay team came up big in Monday’s (April 25) first day of the Northeast Valley Championships at Phoenix Horizon.
Xavier was
the only team to break the 10-minute mark, hitting the finish line in 9:54.24.
Xavier also
competed in preliminaries in the 4x100 and the 4x400 relays.
There were
finals in two field events – the long jump and the javelin.
Senior
Cierra Gonzalez was the top finisher in the long jump (third) at 17 feet
(even), and senior Ellie Higgins was ninth in the javelin at 87 feet (even).
Action
continues on Wednesday (April 27) and Friday (April 29).
