XCP badminton falls just short in opening match

Xavier Prep’s badminton team gave an indication that it will be more of a competitive force this season when it faced host Phoenix Pinnacle on Tuesday (Aug. 23).

The Gators took two singles sets to three games and two doubles matches to three games before falling to the Pioneers 5-4.

Xavier’s No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 all won in singles play, but the three doubles teams could not get over the top.

Next up is the Flying Feathers tournament on Friday (Aug. 26) with a 10 a.m. start at Gilbert Highland.
